Advantages of the construction and materials used in the Master Grand Piano PETROF 237 Monsoon

Rim
Petrof original. Inner Frame is laminated from 13 layers of solid beech and birch lamels. Side wall is laminated from birch plywood lamels. Total thickness of side wall of piano is 7,8 mm. The solid construction of the rim the P 237 Monsoon grand piano ensures high and long term tuning stability and action regulation as well as sound board crown stability which is a prerequisite for perfect performance.

Frame posts
Wooden frame is reinforced by 4 longitudinal and 1 cross solid wood posts. A total of 5 frame posts provide a high contour stability of the frame, stability of tuning, regulation and a colour of tones.

Legs
Petrof original. Solid beech wood central core, alder wood outer shell, gabon thick counter veneer, top thin veneer. The robust construction of the legs ensures high stability of the instrument when played.

Iron plate
Czech producer. Gray cast iron, hand worked, lacquered. Window construction in pin block zone.
The construction of the iron plate is fully comparable in quality with the highest class pianos. Tuning pins are built-in deep into a pinblock. The construction of the iron plate provide extraordinary tuning stability.

Hardware fittings
Petrof original. Solid brass, polished, lacquered, stain resistant. Hardware fittings are corrosion resistant, therefore they do not require any maintenance. It is easily compared in quality to the highest class models of grand pianos.

Pinblock
Special beech plywood Multiplex type. Original thickness of veneers 2 mm. Compressed to 6 layers/1 cm of thickness. Compressed to the density of 800 – 850 kg/m3. Glued by high moisture resistant glue. Top surface veneered by mahogany veneer. The pinblock in this grand piano has a high resistance against atmospheric changes (e.g. humidity). It provides equal torque of tuning pins, which results in particularly high stability of tuning.

Soundboard
Petrof original. Soundboard is made from solid Middle European spruce. Traditionally tapered to the wedge from 9 mm in bass and front edge to 7 mm in back and descant arc. The board has a spheric crown. Traditionally shaped sound board gives high acoustic performance in all frequencies of the whole range. Its construction greatly contributes to generating the typical tone of PETROF grand pianos.

Ribs
Petrof original. Ribs are made from solid European spruce wood, Traditionally circular shaped, hand fitted. The main cross rib is made from solid spruce wood, it's straight, hand crowned. Traditional shape of the sound board and of the ribs gives a great acoustic performance in all frequencies across the entire tone range. The P 237 Monsoon grand piano sounds middle concert hall.

Bridges
Petrof original. Descant and bass bridge is made from solid beech wood, top cap from hard hornbeam wood. Bass bridge is lightened by holes. Lower bottom is cut to the holes for better elasticity. Top caps are graphitized. Bridges are hand worked and bored. Solid hornbeam wood enables a perfect transmission of higher frequencies. Original lightened and elastic construction of the bass bridge enables a maximal resonance of the sound board and an extraordinarily excellent sound of the bass tones.

Scale
Strings run through the agraffes. The construction of agraffes is fully comparable to the world class grand pianos.

Strings & Tuning pins
Steel wire Mares USA or Röslau Germany. Copper Degen Germany. The longest bass string 1710 mm. Nickeled steel, stain resistant. Strings used in the P 237 Monsoon grand piano are made from string wire of the world's highest quality. The tuning pins are of the finest quality, corrosion resistant and fully comparable to the best brands.

Hammer heads
Abel Germany, walnut or hornbeam mouldings. Under felt and top felt Abel Premium. Hammer heads Abel, which are fitted in this instrument, are one of the best makes worldwide. They enable the player to get a great variety of tones.

Dampers
Renner Germany. In this grand piano dampers are used which are produced by the German company Renner. They are from solid wood and from special felt of the highest quality. These dampers are considered to be one of the best worldwide.

Action
Renner Original, Germany. Wippen rail is made from vertically oriented plywood Multiplex type. Hammer rail is made from solid beech wood. Action parts and hammer shanks are made from hard hornbeam wood. The Renner action is generally rated as one of the best. It is reliable, equally quick and it is the most frequently used action in grand pianos of world class quality.

Keys
Petrof Original. Keys are made from light solid European spruce wood. White tops are made from methacrylate Polyplex Sweden. Black keys are made from genuine ebony wood. All the keys are balanced individually. Grand piano P 237 Monsoon has keys of from European spruce. The quality has been proved by more than 140 years of production tradition. The ebony wood used for the black keys provides a very pleasant feeling whilst being played.

Key bed
Petrof original. Key bed is spruce wood sandwich, veneered by beech veneer. The inner spruce core is reinforced by inserted hard beech wooden rail in zone of legs and lyre. Total thickness of key bed is 47 mm. Key bed is additionally reinforced by solid beech wood rail from lower side. The robust key bed is another component which ensures regulated stability of grand piano's action as well as stability of the whole instrument while being played dynamically.

Pedals
Three pedals from solid brass, polished. Left pedal (piano pedal) for shift of keyboard and action. Middle pedal for prolongement function. Right pedal (forte pedal) for lifting the dampers. Construction, materials and function of the P 237 Monsoon grand piano are comparable in quality with the highest class pianos pedal mechanisms.
