Advantages of the construction and materials used in the Master Grand Piano PETROF I Mistral

Rim
Petrof original. Inner rim - laminated solid beech, birch, 13 lamels Outer rim – laminated maple plywood. Total thickness 8,4 cm. The great thickness of the outer rim is one of many advantages of Petrof's grand pianos. It gives them strength, solidity and stability. Mistral's inner wooden frame ensures high and long-term stability of tinning and action regulation as well as sound board crown stability, which is a presumption for perfect performance.

Frame posts
5 Spruce posts, 2 cross posts. Connection – fish-tail + beech dowels. A total of 7 frame posts provide a high contour stability of the frame, stability of tuning and regulation.

Legs
Petrof original. Solid beech core, solid alder outer lining, gabon counter veneer, outer decorative thin veneer. The robust construction of the legs ensures high stability of the instrument when played.

Iron plate
Czech producer. Gray cast iron, hand worked, numerically exact drilled, lacquered. Numerical exactness of drilling ensures high exactness of diapason. High exactness of diapasons of strings and duplexes which is ensured by numerical drilling provides optimal conditions to strings for clear, exact tone.

Iron plate support
Steel adjustable bolt between cross block of wooden frame and iron frame. The steel adjustable bolt increases form stability of the iron plate and consequently the Mistral's tuning stability.

Hardware fittings
Petrof original. Solid brass, polished, lacquered. P I Mistral's hinges and fittings are easily compared in quality to the highest class models of our competitors. The hardware fittings are corrosion resistant, therefore they do not require any maintenance.

Pinblock
Special beech plywood type Multiplex, original veneer thickness 2 mm compressed to the density 800-850kg/m3 (= 6 veneer layers/cm), high moisture resistant glue. The pinblock has high resistance against atmospheric changes (e.g. humidity). It provides equal torque of tuning pins, which results in particularly high stability of tuning.

Soundboard
Petrof original. Tapered in rear and right section. Thickness 9 mm in the center, tapered to 7 mm, spheric crown. Made from European mountain spruce. Traditionally shaped sound board gives high acoustic performance in all frequencies of the whole range. Its construction greatly contributes to generating the typical tone of PETROF grand pianos.

Ribs
Petrof original. Ends hand fitted, circular shaped, made from European mountain spruce. Straight rib. The formation of the sound board and ribs ensure high acoustic performance in all frequencies of the whole tone range. The P I Mistral grand piano can be used even in the biggest concert halls.

Bridges
Petrof original. Treble – solid beech, hornbeam cap. Bass – solid beech, hornbeam cap, lightened by holes, cut bottom. Bridges graphite coated, hand notched and bored. The original lightened and elastic construction of the bass bridge enables an extraordinarily excellent sound of the bass tones.

Scale
Agraffes, front and rear tuned duplexes. Duplexes enriches the tone colour of the grand piano Mistral.

Strings & Tuning pins
Steel wire Mapes USA, Röslau Germany. Copper Degen Germany. Longest string 2080 mm. Steel, nickeled. Strings used in the P I Mistral grand piano are made from string wire of the world's best quality. The tuning pins are of the best quality and they are corrosion resistant.

Hammer heads
Abel Germany, walnut or hornbeam mouldings. Hornbeam hammer shanks. Abel premium under felt and top felt. Hammer heads Abel, which are fitted in this instrument, are ones of the best worldwide. They enable the player to get a great variety of tones.

Dampers
Renner Germany. In this grand piano dampers are used which are produced by the German company Renner. These dampers are considered to be one of the best worldwide.

Action
Renner original Germany. Wippen rail vertical Multiplex plywood. Hammer rail solid beech wood. Hornbeam action parts. The Renner action is generally rated as one of the best. It is reliable, equally quick and it is the most frequently used action in grand pianos of world class quality.

Keys
Petrof original. European spruce, white acrylic tops – Polyplex. Sweden Black key tops - genuine ebony wood. Individually balanced keys. Grand piano P I Mistral has keys of European origin, each key is individually balanced. The quality has been proved by more than 140 years of production tradition. The ebony wood used for the black keys provides a very pleasant feeling whilst playing.

Key bed
Petrof original. Spruce sandwich board, beech veneered. Solid beech insert in lyre and legs zone. Thickness 47 mm. The robust key bed is another component which ensures regulated stability of Mistral's action as well as stability of the whole instrument while being played dynamically.

Pedals
3 pedals, solid brass. Construction, materials and function of P I Mistral's pedals are comparable in quality with the highest class pianos´ pedal mechanisms.
